Be present to answer questions and give directions to the movers.

Stay until they finish.

Accompany the movers as they inventory your household goods and resolve any questions regarding the condition of materials being moved.

Before the moving van leaves, take one final look throughout the house to make certain nothing has been left behind.

Give the driver directions to your new house.

Inform the driver and the moving company of where you can be reached during the move.

If you are donating or throwing items away, ask your movers. They may be able to take things off your hands and save yourself a trip to the dump.

Items that are not going, have in a designated area or clearly labeled.

Make sure to put an extra layer of tape on the bottom of heavy or fragile boxes.

Offer your movers water. Hydration is key.

Keep animals in a room not being entered. Most cases the doors will be left open.

Have a stocked bathroom available for your movers to use if necessary.

If moving short distances shuttling over delicate breakables in vehicles will allow more space for larger furniture items to fit in one trip.

If items are being disassembled please have Ziploc bags for loose screws.

Washer & Dryer units must be disconnected by the homeowner.

If you have glass cabinets please have spare cardboard boxes to wrap outer layers.

Removable shelves should be removed for transport.

Wardrobe boxes are great for tall miscellaneous items.

Do not water plants, leaking may cause damage.

Take all liquids in your vehicle or cab of truck.
